In the Classroom
As I approach the first day of my field experience, I do so both excited and apprehensive, feelings I rarely experienced on my first day of "work". I was never keenly excited about starting a new job, nor was I apprehensive at meeting new people. But this is different. I want to be here! Teaching and learning have evolved as my greatest passions. I truly believe education, above all else, can be society's best friend by nurturing acceptance, tolerance, and respect.
What my first day holds I do not know. I do, however, know I will be back tomorrow.

Growth in any skill requires a life-long commitment to practice. Akin to a medical professional’s personal practice, teaching is also a practice, and its main practice facility is the field. Teaching, unlike most vocations, is not learned from textbooks - it is learned in the classroom. I must never forget that fact because disconnecting the practice of teaching from the classroom, hinders my growth in the pursuit of teaching excellence.
